[LATE]RATURE ANALYSIS #1

***********************
IMPORTANT: I originally chose the novel, The White Fox Chronicles, but i failed in finding and obtaining the actual book, so I decided to read a different novel.
***********************

The Hunger Games

1) A girl, named Katniss Everdeen is a teen girl who is part of district 12 attends a "reaping." Her sister gets chosen. Katniss gets really upset and decides to volunteer as tribute, so she saves her sister. Katniss is driven to a train station where she meets Peeta, and they board a train and begin their journey to the Capitol.  District 12 is a coal mining area. Katniss realizes the pin Madge gave her is of a mockingjay, a type of bird that the Capitol once bred to spy on rebels in the districts.
2) The theme is i guess a prediction about the future, how society would be like in the near future. How everyday living would be like.
3)The tone of the author is very, ethical. She implants pictures into the readers mind with great precision.
4)Symbolism: The Mocking Jay that the Madge gave her is an example of symbolism
Imagery: "When I wake up, the other side of the bed is cold, my fingers stretch out out, seeking Prim's warmth but finding only the rough canvas cover of the mattress" Very first sentence of PG 1
Foreshadowing: A foreshadowing event would be when Prim gets chosen at the reaping then Katniss starts thinking "this can't be happening, i have to do something" at that moment i could predict that Katniss would volunteer for her sister.
Irony: Katniss actually speaks at the ceremony, after she made fun of it at the woods with Gale.
     Mood: So far, very tense.
Flashback: Katniss thinks about the time where she saw Peeta in front of the bakery.
Simile: "Once they are done i'm like a plucked bird ready for roasting"
Personification: Around the beginning of the story, the author added a sentence saying: "The dandelion stormed through Katniss" - an example of personification.
Hyperbole: The dinner they have at the capitol, "There was a sea of food on the table that threatened to overflow."
Setting: The story takes place in a country called panem, in District 12.
Characterization:
-The author uses both direct and indirect characterization.
Examples of direct characterization:
-When Gale and Katniss discuss the idea of running away from district 12, Katniss' feelings play with her about Gale, whether its romantic or friendly.
-When Katniss goes out hunting for food.
Examples of indirect characterization:
-When Katniss volunteers for the reaping to save her sister.
-When She speaks at the ceremony
I guess you can say the author's syntax does change when she focuses on Katniss.
"Oh no, I think. Not him. Because I recognize this name, although I have never spoken directly to its owner. Peeta Mellark.
I would say the protagonist is much of a dynamic character, because at the reaping, when she heard the name "Peeta Mellark" she was shocked and dissapointed. But when they get to the capitol, they start getting to know eachother and their relationship eventually ends up changing because of this.
I think i've much more "met a person" rather than read a character, the author goes well into detail explaining the characters.
"My little sister, Prim, curled up on her side, cocooned in my mother's body, their cheeks pressed together."
